Exhibition at Århus Kunstbygning – Center of Contemporary Art. I participate in this exhibition with the ambiguous title: I create (MYSELF) – ErGO SUM.
Curator Trine Rytter Andersen:
With the title I create (Myself) – ErGO SUM the exhibition presents a play with self-staging and self-reflection through artistic interpretation. All of the 99 artists from the Art Society for Professional Artists and Craftsmen, ProKK, have been asked to create a self-portrait. An assignment that is associated with a long tradition within art history as well as a contemporary situation, where visual selfstaging plays a central role in how we perceive ourselves. Despite the fact that only few of the artists use photography as a medium for their art practise, they have all been instructed to use photography in the production of their selfportrait. An interesting factor in the exhibition has been to get such a large group of different artists to not only think about the production of their artwork, but also themselves as artists.
